Christophe Pourcel not at start race two

The Benelux GP was a sad affair for the CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit team. Christophe Pourcel, who needed a pain-killing injection to compete after injuring his shoulderblade two weeks previously at the British GP, fought a rearguard action after starting eleventh in the opening moto but eventually had to withdraw at half distance after surrendering a number of places. It was clearly inadvisable to race again and he did not start race two. Elder brother Sébastien withdrew from the event after twisting an ankle whilst training for the event during the week.

Christophe Pourcel: “I had several examinations last week, as I had pain in my back after my crash in Great Britain, and finally the doctors discovered a crack in my left shoulderblade. I had three injections before the weekend as I wanted to ride here, but the pain was too intense in the first moto and I had to retire. I didn’t start the second race as the track was even more demanding, but I will try to race next week in Faenza; we have some great memories from this place with my brother as we each won our respective classes the last time we raced there in 2007."
