Brilliant second podium of the season for Strijbos
The Grand Prix of Brazil in May saw HM Plant KTM UK stand on the podium of the premier class in the FIM Motocross World Championship for the first time in their history and yesterday Kevin Strijbos was able to repeat the feat with an excellent third position overall at a damp Uddevalla for the Swedish stop on the calendar.
It was in the second outing where former double world championship runner-up Strijbos began to stretch his legs. His speed was unparalleled among the leading group as he made his way up from a mid top ten slot and threatened the back wheel of Christophe Pourcel in the closing laps. Only some poor luck getting through the myriad of backmarkers stopped the amiable racer from finishing in second place but he was able to set the quickest circulation and classified as top KTM rider on the day.
In addition to bringing home the champagne for the team for the second time in 2012 Strijbos picked up another hefty points haul and is now just 14 away from holding fifth place in the MX1 championship standings.
